Corporate partnerships for Scouts

We created an activity magazine to showcase Scouts’ corporate partners

Our brief

Scouting exists to make young people’s lives better, helping them realise their full potential and preparing them with skills for life. Their famous activity badges reward achievement in everything from healthy eating to PR, and include a number of corporate partner-sponsored badges. Our task was to showcase these sponsored badges to Scout leaders and groups, inspiring them with fresh activity ideas and demonstrating impact for partners.

Our solution

Our creative solution for corporate partners was to give them their own platform with Make.Do.Share. – a magazine filled with badge-related activities, step-by-steps, quizzes and competitions. It also provides feedback from the young people about taking part in the activities, to help leaders run them with their own groups.

In comparison with Scouting’s more minimalist, pared-back style, Make.Do.Share. represents unrestrained fun. It’s creatively designed within strict brand guidelines, using imagination and a dose of whimsy to optimise its appeal and engage leaders with the activities.

The results

Make.Do.Share., which is delivered with Scouting magazine, has improved engagement with these badges by giving corporate partners a voice in the charity’s comms cycle. It has also helped the Corporate Partners team at the Scouts to secure new commercial relationships.

“The Make Do Share magazine has been a great platform for STA, allowing us to share updates to Scout leaders on how their Scouting and Beaver groups can achieve their swimming badges. The colourful and engaging layout is fantastic and we look forward to receiving our next copy.”
