The RSPB and LEGO partnership: content that connects children to wildlife

We worked with two well-known organisations to support learning at school and at home

Our brief

The RSPB is one of UK’s biggest wildlife charities. As well as engaging with families to build an understanding of and passion for nature, the RSPB also works within schools to aid teachers in bringing nature into the curriculum. We partnered with the RSPB to create two downloadable packs: one for families and one for teachers. Both were designed to encourage connections to nature and move audiences towards the RSPB’s online offering.

Our solution

We took on the planning, commissioning, writing and design of two downloadable packs to connect children with nature at home and at school. Working with LEGO Group and the RSPB, we created a solution to both promote the RSPB’s hands-on Wild Challenge programme of activities and to encourage the thinking aligned with LEGO’s Build the Change programme.

Using our youth publishing experience we were able to execute two pieces of content: one that facilitated learning within the school environment, was approved by teachers and supported national curriculum learning; and a second that supports families at home as they learn about nature in their own time. The packs are suitable for a range of ages and abilities and can be used by schools the length and breadth of the country.

We executed a custom photoshoot and created a product with both organisation’s branding in mind, creating a final product that was consistent, inspiring and user friendly.

The results

“It has been really great to work more closely with the team at Our Media, I really appreciate how readily they responded to RSPB and LEGO’s needs, with very tight deadlines, to create such an exciting, engaging pack. They look incredible and I really appreciate the team pulling out all the stops at the last minute. Just want to say a massive thank you for all their support, I’m super happy with it and so are LEGO.”
